Greek Theatre (Los Angeles, CA)
Psychedelic rockers The War on Drugs blew up in 2014 on the strength of the ultimate road-trip song “Red Eyes,” a grand-scale riff-attack that took the classic sound of acts like Dire Straits and Tom Petty and turned it into something fresh and contemporary. Lyrically inspired by Bob Dylan circa the days of roaring down Highway 61, the Philadelphia band stirs nostalgia while ushering in a bold new era of guitar-driven music. But most importantly, War on Drugs are a total blast to see live, and Los Angeles’ lovely outdoor Greek Theatre is the perfect place to do so. Former Girls frontman Christopher Owens opens.
