Please join Students for Justice in Palestine SJP Ryerson, United Black Students at Ryerson, Indigenous Students’ Association at Ryerson University Sikhs Students Association – Ryerson and RyeTSA for a panel discussion entitled “Solidarity within the struggle: A panel discussion on Ethnic Cleansing”

Scheduled speakers are:

CHRYS SAGET-RICHARD Chrys is a second year Social Work student of Haitian decent studying at Ryerson University, and a returning coordinator at the Racialised Students Collective, one of six Equity Service Centres at Ryersons Students Unions RSU. They identify as a Black, Trans, non-binary, Mad, Queer and centres their activism work around intersectionality and Anti-oppressive practice with a focus on challenging anti-Black racism. They were a founding coordinator at the RSUs Trans Collective, which continues to push for more Trans inclusive spaces on Ryersons campus. Chrys sits comfortably within the margins of the margins and works to centralize the voices of their communities by participating in collectively creating spaces for those voices.

MARK SZKODA Mark Szkoda is a Politics and Governance student at Ryerson University, currently enrolled in the third year of his program. He is also an executive member of the Indigenous Students Association in the Ryerson community. An active and contributing member of the Indigenous community, he is currently employed at Toronto Council Fire Native Cultural Centre and is also a member of a youth council operating out of the same organization. He has also recently been engaged as a youth rep to strategy meetings for the Aboriginal Justice Division of the Ministry of the Attorney General. He has aspirations towards law school after he completes his undergrad and hopes to be a prominent voice in the search for social justice.

JATINDER SINGH Jatinder Singh Jay is an advocating lawyer and spokesperson for Sikhs for Justice SFJ. Sikhs for Justice SFJ is a human rights organization, striving to disseminate true and correct information, statistics, figures and data regarding the Genocide of Sikhs 1984-1997 that took place in India with particular emphasis on the genocidal events of November 1984. With the support of Sikh community, SFJ is working to bring international community, International Human Organizations and Governments to recognize the attacks on Sikhs 1984-98 as Genocide defined in Article 2 of U.N. Convention on Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide. SFJ believes in and adheres to Universal Declaration of Human Rights and endeavors to create an environment in which minorities – regardless of race, religion, language, gender, or ethnicity can freely exercise their right to self determination as enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and United Nations Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.

MANISHA JOSHI-VIJAYAN Manisha Joshi-Vijayan is a second year English student of Tamil and Punjabi descent studying at York University. Her Tamil ancestry is from Chulipuram in Jaffna. She has been heavily involved in campus activism for the past two years as an organizer within Students Against Israeli Apartheid. This year she is the chair of the United South Asians at York USAY, which is a community service group funded by the York Federation of Students that is dedicated to supporting and strengthening South Asian communities at York.
