The Academy of Realist Art (ARA) Invites You to Attend Our Third Annual Spring Show and Sale
When: Saturday, May 14, 2016, 2:00 to 7:00 p.m.
Where: 2968 Dundas Street West (at Pacific Avenue), Toronto, 2nd Floor (elevator available)
Street and lot parking are available at Dundas St. W. and Pacific Ave
The Academy of Realist Art is one of a select group of North American academies dedicated to teaching classical art training, using the techniques of the 19th century ateliers. Founded in 1997 in Toronto, ARA draws students from around the world; many of whom have gone on to become international award-winning artists, illustrators and/or film and digital media professionals.
The ARA Annual Spring Show and Sale provides a unique opportunity for you to step inside our studios to:
• See the high calibre of work being done by our local and international students
• Meet the new generation of rising stars in the realist art community
• Discover affordable original artwork to add to your collection
• Learn the essentials of classical art training and how that can translate into success in today’s world
The event will be hosted by the Academy President, Colleen Johnston and Senior Instructor, Fernando Freitas, as well as teaching staff and students. Guests include established and emerging realist artists, gallery owners, animation and gaming studio representatives, and art educators. An academic drawing and painting demonstration will start at 3 p.m., with an auction of the work to follow. Ballots can also be cast for the ‘People’s Choice’ prize. Enter our raffle to win an ARA workshop worth $750! A free wine and cheese reception will be provided, sponsored by ARA and local area businesses.
Exhibition runs May 14 to June 12.
Opening reception Saturday, May 14, 2 -7 p.m.
Mondays 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Thursdays 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Saturdays 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The New Masters is a unique student-driven consortium of ARA alumni, students, staff and professionals whose goal is to help artists segue into a professional art career.
