On Saturday, May 21st, I'll be partnering up with famed Old Town historian Bruce Bell to do a tour on the history of theatre in Toronto.

Meet Bruce in the lobby of St. Lawrence Market on Front Street at 10:30 a.m. From there, you'll visit some of Toronto's earliest theatre sites, including the site of the first play ever performed in Toronto, back in 1820.

Other sites include the birthplace of vaudevile in Toronto, the once imposing but now demolished Grand Opera House, the long gone but historic Shea's Victoria Theatre, the site of the first motion picture show, and many others.

We'll conclude this tour by visiting a jewel in the crown of Toronto theatre – the oppulent Elgin and Winter Garden Theatre Centre. There's no other place in Toronto quite like it.

Cost is $30 per person and you can book by emailing me at richard@muddyyorktours.com or by telephone at 416 487-9017.
