Beauty. Glamour. The uncontrollable desire to explore that secret persona living deep inside your soul. The time has come to gear up for that illustrious of all titles – Miss Verve! Ok and also Miss Dupont.
Do you have the CHARISMA to win over the judges?
What about the UNIQUENESS to set yourself apart?
Can you show us the NERVE it takes to snatch a crown?
And of course, a little TALENT never hurt anybody.
For all you budding Drag Queen divas and Drag King bosses out there, the time has come for you to show us what you got. The competition will take place this year on Saturday, June 11. Why so late, you say? Well why not. And now there are NO excuses for thirsty wigs. So what are you waiting for, start getting your shit together! Do you have what it takes to stand tall and proud in the pantheon of amateur Toronto queens?
2009: Lady Wilhelmina
2010: Herpez de la Whore
2011: Misty On
2012: Frantina
2013: Miss Beau Hemoth
2014: Tara Miaz
2015: House of Van Cartier
2016: YOU!
And remember if you don't have what it takes to compete, there's no shame in that. Well ok, there's a little shame in that. But anyone and everyone are more than welcome to come out and show your support. Besides after a few drinks, you know you're gonna throw your heels into the ring for the Miss Dupont walk-off.
Now for some of the ground rules:
1. Cover for the night will be $10 to take care of costs.
2. Everyone has to come in an outfit of the opposite gender with which they identify.
3. No posting pics/video from the event unless you get permission from the people in 'em. This is a private space.
4. The first 10 people to contact me Rob Cumming will be guaranteed a performance spot.
5. No borrowing costumes/apparel from professional queens. We want you to be YOU.
6. You're not doing drag if you're not wearing nails. Or 301s.
7. Come to slay, but no Tonya Harding's PLEASE.
That's all.
Lots of love,
The ladies of House of Van Cartier
