Experiment with felting techniques and make your own expressive letters inspired by Franz Erhard Walther’s Das Neues Alphabet (1990-96). We will begin by exploring Walther’s exhibition and discussing how symbols can represent ideas and emotions. Participants will learn how to use felting to achieve a desired descriptive effect when making their own letter (or letters). Together, participants will arrange their letters to create a brand new alphabet, before taking their letters home.
