On Sunday, August 7 Carolyn Dawe and Donald Quan will be performing at 120 Diner (120 Church St.), Toronto`s newest live comedy and music hotspot showcases some of the hottest performers. 6pm – Carolyn Dawe

Carolyn has been drawn to the music of jazz crooners and divas since she was a child in Newfoundland, listening to Dean Martin and watching her idols in old black and white movies on Saturday afternoons. Since moving to Toronto, she has received vocal coaching from musical theatre and jazz professionals. This past year Carolyn has performed in the We Are One Jazz Project Jazz Voices Choir, with Mississauga Big Band Jazz Ensemble, George Lake Big Band, the newly-formed River Road Jazz Band, as well as her own jazz combo, The Little-Dawe Project. Carolyn is delighted to be joined by multi-instrumentalist Kevin Little on piano and guitar and rising star Julian Mark Brindley on trumpet.

8:30 – Donald Quan

Donald Quan’s groups have performed internationally and at major festivals in Canada including the Udine Jazz Festival with Siné and concerts with the Toronto Tabla Ensemble. His groups have had notable performances at numerous “Music Can Heal” performances as well as concerts at Nuit Blanche, Musideum and is a regular performer at Harbourfront Centre. Donald Quan is a renowned multi-instrumentalist and has also toured the world over with Loreena McKennitt playing keyboards, tabla and viola. He was also a member of Lighthouse for many years. As a recording artist, Donald Quan has released 3 albums on his independent label Edam Squid and has recently released over a dozen albums as a label artist for Somerset/Avalon Entertainment. Donald Quan is also one of the most prolific SOCAN-earning film composers in Canada, winning 3 SOCAN Film Music Awards.”
