In the award-winning comedy Obvious Child, twentysomething stand-up comic Donna Stern gets dumped, fired and knocked up all in the same night, forcing her to confront the realities of life as a grown woman for the first time.

The third edition of Bechdel Tested will feature the film Slate magazine called “the most honest abortion movie” ever made as it sheds light on the challenges women face in the comedy world just as the 42nd Just For Laughs festival comes to a close.

Some of Toronto’s funniest women — including comedian and author Monica Heisey — will also weigh in with their own experiences during a panel discussion led by Canadaland journalist Vicky Mochama, as well as crack jokes of their own.
