York Regional Police is seeking public assistance in locating a man wanted on a variety of charges, including sexual assault. Investigators hope that the image being released will help in locating the suspect, who is believed to be in Vancouver, British Columbia.
In late December 2011, police were called to a business address in the Jane Street and Rutherford Road area of the City of Vaughan for reports of a man who was believed to be breaching his court-imposed conditions. The suspect, who fled prior to police arrival, had previously been charged with assault-related incidents against a female victim that is known to him.
The suspect, identified as Andrew Scott Houghton, 27, of Markham, is currently wanted on a Canada-Wide Criminal Code warrant for various charges including Breach of Recognizance, Criminal Harassment and Sexual Assault. Investigators are urging Mr. Houghton to obtain legal counsel and surrender himself to police.
He is believed to be in the Vancouver area.
Mr. Houghton is considered violent and should not be approached.
