The Prime Minister of Canada, Stephen Harper, has called personally and congratulated the recently re-elected President of the United States of America, Barack Obama, on Thursday. He also took the opportunity to raise the issues of a public push on Washington to get its fiscal house in order.

Harper did also lay his point ahead that Canada is all set up if the United States hits the “fiscal cliff” and lets the global economy suffer as a reaction. Harper talked directly from a hotel to the president on Thursday through white house to offer his wishes to Obama on Tuesday’s election win over Republican rival Mitt Romney. The two leaders reportedly spoke for about 10 minutes only.

The official statement released from the Prime Minister’s office implicates that during the call, Harper informed Obama that he is “looking forward” to work in collaboration with the White House on “initiatives vital to both countries.” The statement added that prime minister pointedly highlighted “the importance of the White House and Congress working together to tackle the U.S. fiscal situation.”

Harper was answering queries of reporters during his visit of a southern Indian city, when he stated that “obviously we encourage President Obama to work to bring Congress together on a resolution of this issue.” He clarified that “the world would be immensely helped if the Americans could deal with this immediate issue and the Europeans accelerate progress on their debt issues.”

  1. Despite all odds, our Prescomment_IDent prevailed. He still has an uphill battle fighting a Red House which has blocked his every move in an attempt to squash his goals of bringing the Mcomment_IDdle Class equal pay, women’s rights, gay rights and affordable healthcare. The Bush Administration drove our economy into a swift nose dive and Obama is still the patsy.
