Lets face it. There are two types of people in Canada.

White, yellow, blue, black, brown Canadians and First Nation people

When it comes to First Nation people, everybody treats them like second class citizens.

Law enforcement agencies consider the First Nation people as a problem that must be contained. Rest of Canada envies them because of tax exemption status but rarely understands their living conditions and way of thinking.

The current and past federal governments have set up a system of isolation of the First Nation people that will slowly lead to an end of First Nation people by either natural and other health related deaths.

It is no wonder that the failure to act by Saskatchewan essential services and RCMP led to the death of Kerri Canepotatoe, she died from exposure after walking 60 kilometres in an effort to find assistance.

Only thing, Saskatchewan Public Safety Minister Yogi Huyghebaert could say was that the government’s sends condolences to the family on the death of Kerri Canepotatoe, 18, saying it was "a very tragic incident."  Family would have had more respect for the minister if only  flowers had been sent.

Deaths of First Nation people at the hands of police or lack of government support are so common these days that they are not even mentioned in the media.

It is about time the First Nation people stand up and take matters into their hands and demand justice.

Just my 2 cents!

  1. I sympathize with the first nations. Everything they say is true. We took their land and slaughtered them with less dignity and greater veracity than the Nazi’s in WW2 dcomment_ID. Its another crime that has gone unpunished. The government treats these people like they were cirques attractions. There should be a grater effort to bring real jobs to the first nations so they can themselves improve their lives and strengthen their communities.

  2. Adam,
No one could argue that the First Nations peoples could use much more support from federal and provincial governments.
That being sacomment_ID, your comments are plainly moronic. Spewing childish rhetoric only hurts their cause.
Try looking into the amounts of fed/prov tax dollars that have gone to First Nations, then look at how much of the money was wasted by both government bureaucracy (Liberal’s own monstrosity here) and the hierarchy within the First Nations communities. Many chiefs within the FN communities live very well when many of their own live in squalor. That sounds to me like typical human nature.
Try standing back to take a big picture view of things. Europeans moved into North America and settled. Just as many cultures dcomment_ID in Europe, 2,000 years ago and as they continue to do so today. The same is to be sacomment_ID about North America. People keep coming because that’s what people do and will continue to do.
    Nature hates a vacuum.

  3. Typical racist warmonger.
You are responsible for your own life and that of your passangers , equip yourself to live.
*) make a plan and let people know where you’re going, when you expect to get there, where to send search parties if you don’t show up by your arrival time *) don’t drive where your car cant go (unpaved roads, esp in the mud) *) wear appropriate clothes for the weather, and carry backup gear in your car for blizzard conditions (extra clothes, blankets…) *) carry backup communication/signaling devices (cellphone, spare battery , radio, whistle, flashlight, firemaking materials, fuel)

  4. Alan Rogers, you’re a goof. Your article is simplistic at best. What happened to this young lady is tragic to be sure, but don’t be an ass and turn this into a racial issue. The operator, his/her mistake notwithstanding, would not have known her race at the time of the call.
