USA: Free $30 Oye! Times readers Get FREE $30 to spend on Amazon, Walmart…Despite plenty of promises pre 2011 election, the Conservative Government is failing live in caregivers and the large Filipino community.

As a cabinet re-shuffle is looming on the horizon, it is important for the larger Canadian Filipino community to realise that for years now, they have been played for fools.

And while Jason Kenney might be out as Immigration Minister, Pinoys must remember that, ultimately, it is the Conservative party as a whole who have mismanaged the program and run it into the ground.

On April 26, 2013  Immigration Minister Jason Kenney, once ''the Prince of Live In Caregivers" as he was lovingly called by Filipino groups, admitted that the Live In Caregiver Program has become ''unmanageable'', as seen in this April 2013 video of Kenney testifying at an Immigration Committee.

This is extremely interesting given the long and effective vote pandering path taken by Jason Kenney before the last election to woo the Filipino community across Canada.

Kenney over and over again touted "significant improvements" to the program, one of them a faster path to PR, and now suddenly two years later the program hasbecome unmanageable and ungovernable.
What happened?
Well, easy, Jason Kenney and his party are masters of deceiving vulnerable, ethic communities. The way they treated the Filipinos is a prime example, and the Conservatives were desperate for those Filipino votes.

Before the last election in 2011, Kenney was frequently seen attending Filipino events, and over and over again touted " improvements " to the Live In Caregiver Program.

He went even as far as badmouthing the Liberals for not doing anything about the LCP. Another Conservative Minister, Joe Oliver, was part of the scheme to woo the plentiful Filipino votes becoming known as the " Godfather of Live In Caregivers" and also Tobias Enverga is the newly appointed Senator originally from the Philippines ! Surprise, surprise!!

Gullible Filipino caregivers hoping for a Senate Seat themselves and singing to the tune of the Conservatives are shown here in the campaign office of Parm Gill. in March 2011, they pointed out that they would be " door knocking till my knuckles hurt'' to kick out Ruby Dhalla from the Brampton riding. I'd say, given the colossal mess of the Live In Caregiver Program, Ruby Dhalla has a pretty good chance to get re-elected soon!
You have to feel sorry for those groups. Surely by now they know that Kenney has stabbed them in the back by delaying family reunification.

Keeping caregivers away from their own children!

In this March 2010 video, Kenney cavalierly says to a room full of admiring live in caregivers that " I predict the Live In Caregiver Program will be an important and growing part of Canada's Immigration System "

Yet if the LCP is so very important, why are caregivers waiting years and years to be reunited with their families and why are Canadian Experience Class applicants receiving their Permanent Residence in one year? If Live In Caregivers provide a  " service beyond measure" as mentioned in this 2011 Christmas card, why isn't Jason Kenney prioritizing the Live In Caregiver Program?

Next time you see Jason Kenney, Stephen Harper or any other Conservative MP at a Filipino Event telling the community how important we are to Canada, let's ask them these questions and see what their answer is!
