BOR, 12 February, 2016 [Gurtong] – The Commissioner of Twic County Dau Akoi Jurkuch said that the humanitarian situation of the IDPs and returnees is worrying as they have no shelter and are sleeping under trees.

He further said that they are arriving from Uganda, Kenya and some from Greater Equatoria region where they had run to during the violence that erupted in South Sudan to seek for refuge.

“The situation is bad. And we have appealed to the NGOs to intervene,” said Dau Akoi.

Akoi said that some humanitarian agencies have already assessed the situation in order to respond to the dire need of the people.

“They have divided the reports to the clusters and we are hopping today they will be here and we are going to meet them to see when they are going to intervene.”

The returnees are in dire need of both food and non-food items.
