The sources reported that, on Thursday, the high level BJP leaders LK Advani and Parkash Singh, Punjab Chief Minister the NDA ally, would go to Gujrat to be with Narendra Modi, the Chief Minister who will be observing fast for three days. The 17th of September has been decided for the start of the fast. There is no possibility of the change of the date so far. The top leaders of BJP are heading towards the destination with enthusiasm to bring ‘communal harmony’.
This show of solidarity would be joined by other NDA constituents as well. Somehow, this is not clear whether the other NDA members, specifically the JD (U), will be adopting Badal’s example.
The party’s Muslim wing will also be there to bring ‘communal harmony’; Shahnawaz Hussain is determined to join.
The senior leaders of BJP Rajnath Singh, Arun Jaitley, Vijay Goel and Ravi Shankar Prasad are very likely to attend also.
Different members of the party commented on this effort to bring harmony. “This fast is going to be a game-changer for Modi. He is attempting to put the blot of the 2002 riots behind and gain wider acceptability. Of course, he will gain personally… the party will also gain politically,” a senior party leader said.
