Sudheendra KulkarniSudheendra Kulkarni, the former assistant of LK Advani, the senior BJP leader, today appeared before a Delhi court. Kulkarni was summoned in the court for his alleged role in 2008 cash-for-votes scam.

The Special Judge Sangita Dhingra Sehgal heard the hearing in the Delhi Court.

Sudheendra Kulkarni repeatedly failed to appear before the court on 6th and 19th September on the ground that he was in US.

The counsel of Kulkarni was warned by the court because of the continuous absence of Kulkarni. The Court affirmed his counsel that the arrest warrant would be issued if Kulkarni failed to appear before the court on the next date, September 19.

Before appearing in the court Kulkarni talked to the media and said he was just a “whistle blower”.

"The charge against me is false and politically motivated. My role in the entire matter was that of a whistle blower. Along with my associates, 3 BJP MPs and Suhail Hindustani, I attempted to expose the purchase of MPs for securing victory in the confidence vote that the then government was seeking in Lok Sabha in July 2008." He said.

"I am ready to go to jail if exposing corruption is a crime," he added.

Sudheendra Kulkarni has been charged under section 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code.
