Nehru-Gandhi scion and BJP MP Varun Gandhi and Yamini Roy Chaudhury performed pre-marriage puja and took blessings of Shankaracharya of Kanchi Swami Jayendra Saraswati at the Kanchi Mutt near the Kashi Kamkotishwar Temple in Hanuman Ghat area on Saturday afternoon. Varun and Yamini, a Kolkata based Graphic–Designer would tie the marital knot at the temple on Sunday.

Varun, along with his would-be-wife Yamini and mother Maneka Gandhi, landed at Babatpur Airport on Saturday and moved to a hotel in Nadesar area. The ceremony of ‘haldi’ was performed at the hotel. Later, the couple went to the Kanchi Mutt to perform puja and other religious rituals. After spending for around one hour at the temple, they returned to the hotel.

The Kashi Kamkotishwar Temple is prepared to host the wedding ceremony of Varun and Yamini with Vedic rituals on Sunday.

The complete temple premises and road leading to the temple have been decorated for the high-profile wedding ceremony. Limited persons close to the family and Vedic priests would be present at the temple during the marriage function from 7 am to 8 am.

A group of priests would carry out the Vedic rituals of the wedding ceremony. Separate sitting preparations have been made for the guests. Adequate security arrangements have been made in the area in sight of the wedding ceremony.

No other member of the Nehru-Gandhi family has come to Varanasi to attend Varun’s marriage.

It was predictable that Priyanka Gandhi would attend the wedding ceremony. But sources close to the family confided that Priyanka could not arrive due to illness, and Rahul Gandhi has sustained a fracture in his leg.
