82 year old elderly man robbed by two Toronto punks

On Wednesday, June 15, 2011, shortly after 1:10 p.m., police responded to a robbery call at a variety store on Bathurst Street.

It is alleged that:

– an 82-year-old employee was working in the store when two men, one of whom had a bandana over his face, walked in,

– the bandana-wearing man walked behind the counter, assaulted the employee, then forced open the cash register while the other man, armed with a gun, stood by,

– both men fled empty handed when a customer walked into the store,

– police officers arrested the two men shortly thereafter and seized a loaded handgun.

Malcolm David, 19, and Destiny Meyler, 18, both of Toronto, are each charged with:

1. Robbery While Armed with a Firearm,
2. Possession of a Prohibited Firearm with Ammunition,
3. Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm,
4. Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized.

Destiny Meyler is additionally charged with Disguise with Intent.

Both accused are scheduled to appear in court at Old City Hall on Thursday, June 16, 2011, room 101, 10 a.m.
