A sad day for San Francisco as the much-lauded experimental filmmaker George Kucher lost his life at the age of 69 due to prostate cancer. He was amongst the legends of San Francisco art lovers, as his “plot, schmot” technique because a genre that was followed by innumerable art students.
He has to his credit over 500 films and videos mostly with his twin brother Mike. The duo migrated to San Francisco in 1971 so that Mr. Kuchar could teach film at the San Francisco Art Institute. His films have been deemed ultramodern and cult. His films were shot in absolutely any surroundings with actors from within his family and friends circle.
Mr. Kuchar passed away in the hospital with his twin brother by his side. He preferred to not have any services offered. However, a cinematic presentation is underway at the Bay Area.
