On Friday, September 9, 2011, members of the RCMP Commercial Crime Section will be introduced to the new polymer $100 note, set to begin circulating in November 2011. Bank of Canada representative Monique LeBlanc will be at RCMP Headquarters in New Brunswick to provide training on the security features of the new polymer series. A new polymer $50 bank note is planned for circulation in March 2012, followed by new $20, $10, and $5 notes in 2013.
"The RCMP has been working closely with the Bank of Canada to help educate the public and the law enforcement community in regards to the new notes," says Cpl. Chantal Roger of the RCMP in New Brunswick’s Commercial Crime Section. "Our goal is to ensure the public and retailers in New Brunswick are well informed about the notes’ new security features by the time they are released, so that they have the capability of verifying legitimacy and protecting themselves against counterfeiting."
