Update: Missing boy located, Stephen Liu, 14

Toronto police is looking for a missing autistic lad last seen near a North York junior high. A search squad with a canine unit has been investigating the Leslie and Steeles vicinity for Stephen Liu, 14, who was last seen riding his navy blue mountain bike soon after parting Zion Heights Junior High School around 3 p.m.

On Wednesday, cops stretched the search citywide when Stephen missed school, and have circulated more pictures and a more thorough description of what he was wearing.

Staff-Sgt. John Babier says about the boy, “He has no history of going missing, and that’s what concerns us, is that there is no pattern or previous occurrences”

According to Babier, Stephen is an introvert. He is of Asian descent, around five feet nine inches tall, with short black hair, and a slim build.

Const. Tony Vella says the search has been advanced to the peak level, and cops from other units are coming in.

Vella said: “The officers have spoken to Stephen’s parents [and] his friends. What we know now is that he was last seen on his mountain bike.”

Mother of the young boy, Helen Trudell says, “It’s just really upsetting, and you just hope for the best for the family.”
