Members of the Halifax Integrated Major Crime Unit have laid charges in the homicide of Jason Dockrill.
Fifty-two year old Michael Dockrill was arrested by police this morning and charged in the homicide of 20-year old Jason Dockrill. He has been charged with Manslaughter as well as a number of firearm-related offenses. A complete list of charges is included below. On June 12, 2011, at approximately 10:30 p.m., Halifax District RCMP received a call about a Break and Enter that resulted in a shooting at a residence in Lakeside.
It was reported to the RCMP that two males wearing masks broke into a residence in the 1300 block of St. Margaret’s Bay Road. One of them got into a fight with one of the residents of the home. During the altercation, shots were fired by another resident of the home. When police arrived, they found the victim deceased.

Manslaughter Sec 236(a) CC
Criminal Negligence causing death Sec 220(a) CC
Numerous firearms charges including:
Careless Use of a Firearm S. 86(1) CC
Unsafe Storage contrary to regulations (2 Counts) S. 86(2) CC
Pointing a Firearm S. 87 CC
Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose (2 Counts) S. 88 CC
Possession of a Firearm knowing it is Unauthorized (2 Counts) S. 92(1) CC
Possession of a Weapon Obtained by the Commission of an Offence S. 96 CC
Failing to Report Stolen/Found Firearm S. 105 CC
Discharging Firearm with Intent S 244 CC
Discharging Firearm – Reckless S. 244.2 CC
The accused will be appearing in Halifax Provincial Court this afternoon to answer to those charges.
