Brampton man Joshua Raphael facing charges for Endangering Life incident

A 19 year old Brampton man wanted by Peel Regional Police for Mischief Endangering Life was arrested by Toronto Police Service on Sunday, February 19, 2012.

On Wednesday, February 15, 2012, at approximately 7:30 p.m., the accused, Joshua Raphael, was taking care of his 9 year-old niece and 5 year-old nephew. For reasons yet to be determined, he lit a fire in the residence, and then fled the house leaving the children behind. The fire was extinguished quickly by the 9 year old child thus preventing any injuries to herself and her younger brother. There was minimal damage to the home.

Canada wide arrests warrants for Arson and Mischief Endangering Life had been issued for the accused when attempts to locate him proved unsuccessful.

On Sunday, February 19, 2012, the accused was located in the stairwell of an apartment complex in Toronto, and was subsequently arrested by the Toronto Police Service. Custody of the accused was handed to the Peel Regional Police shortly after the arrest.

Joshua Raphael, 19 years of age, from Brampton, has been charged with Arson and Mischief Endangering Life. He will appear for a Bail Hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice, Brampton, on Tuesday, February 21, 2012.
