Codiac Regional RCMP have arrested Christopher Shawn Munroe, a 32-year-old Moncton man, for an armed robbery that occurred last night on Vail Street in Moncton.

Shortly before 10:15 pm on August 30, 2010 a man armed with a weapon entered JJ’s Convenience store located at 126 Vail Street in Moncton. He demanded money from the clerk then fled with an undisclosed amount of cash. The clerk was able to provide police with a description of the suspect and where he was last seen heading.

The Codiac police dog was called to the scene and officers scoured the area looking for the suspect. Within minutes, the suspect was located in the Vail Street area and was arrested without incident. Police also recovered a weapon, cash and other items believed to have been used during the robbery.

Christopher Munroe appeared in Moncton Provincial Court this afternoon to face a charge of armed robbery and other related charges and is scheduled to return to court on September 2, 2010 at 1:30 pm for a bail hearing.
