Barrington RCMP are investigating a fishing incident that claimed the life of a local man yesterday. 

Yesterday, at approximately 9:30 p.m., Shelburne RCMP were notified of an incident on board a fishing boat. At approximately 7:45 a.m. this morning, the fishing vessel arrived at Westhead wharf and was met by RCMP. Preliminary investigation determined that Richard MacMillan Hiltz, age 40, from Port Clyde, was a crewman on the fishing boat called ‘Nip ‘n Tuck’ and was struck in the back of the head by an anchor and pulled overboard. He died a short time later.

The incident remains under investigation by the RCMP and the Nova Scotia Department of Labour and Advanced Education. RCMP do not suspect foul play.
