Andre Shand and Alicia Broders charged for home invasion in Pickering

Two suspects have been charged and detectives are searching for three others as the investigation into a violent home invasion in Pickering continues.

On Monday, November 29, 2010 just after 12:30 p.m., four males entered a basement apartment at a residence in the Rossland Road West/Valley Farm Road area of Pickering. Two adult victims and two small children were made to kneel on the floor as the suspects stole cash, video games and a small quantity of marihuana. One suspect held a handgun to the head of an adult victim and another suspect was brandishing a knife. The suspects then fled in a green van.

Officers located the van at a residence on Sheppard Avenue in Pickering and arrested Andre SHAND, age 19, of Sheppard Avenue in Pickering. He is charged with Robbery and Possession of Stolen Property and was held for a bail hearing. While at the residence, a 24-year-old female not connected with the home invasion was charged with obstructing police.

Further investigation resulted in the arrest of a female suspect believed to have driven the getaway vehicle. Alicia BRODERS, age 19, of No Fixed Address (Pickering) is charged with Robbery, Possession of Stolen Property and Breach Recognizance x2. She was also held for a bail hearing.

Investigators continue their attempts to identify the other home invasion suspects.

Suspect #1 is described as male, black with a light complexion, 6’1” tall; with afro-style hair with moustache and goatee; wearing a black and red baseball cap, thick puffy black jacket, black pants and black shoes. He had a handgun.

Suspect #2 is described as male, white, 6’ tall; blonde hair with a goatee; wearing a black toque and brown long-sleeve T-shirt.

Suspect #3 is described as male, black, 5’8” tall; wearing a black hoodie. He had a kitchen knife.
