The Toronto Argonauts are pleased to announce that import RB/kick returner DeCori Birmingham has signed with the club through the 2012 season.

Birmingham played four seasons at the University of Arkansas where he set a school record with more than 1,300 career kickoff return yards. In 49 games for the Razorbacks, he accumulated 1,151 rushing yards on 233 carries and was an 11-game starter as a senior. In 2007, the Texas-native played five games for the Frankfurt Galaxy of NFL Europa where he tallied 409 all-purpose yards. Birmingham spent the past two seasons on the Carolina Panthers’ practice roster and has been on rosters with the New England Patriots, New York Jets, New York Giants and Indianapolis Colts.

An excellent inside runner, DeCori is also very comfortable as a receiver and he has always been an outstanding returner. We are excited to watch him compete at training camp.”

College: Spent four seasons with Arkansas (2001-04)…Played in 50 games with 18 starts at Arkansas where he split time between running back and wide receiver… Set a school record with 1,345 career kickoff return yards on 62 returns…2004 Started all 11 games…Notched 456 yards rushing and three touchdowns on 111 carries…Averaged a team-leading 6.8 yards on 17 punt returns for 115 yards and 21.7 yards on 10 kickoff returns for 217 yards… 2003 Played 13 games with three starts…Posted 17 catches for 186 yards and two touchdowns…Returned seven punts return for 89 yards and 11 kickoffs for 203 yards… 2002 Played in 14 games with four starts… Registered 10 carries for 59 yards… Accounted for 17 receptions for 184 yards and three touchdowns…Led the Razorbacks with a 12.2-yard punt return average on 28 returns for 342 yards and 22.8-yard kickoff return average on 28 returns for 638 yards…2001 Played in 12 games…Rushed 26 times for 82 yards and one touchdown…Caught six passes for 47 yards…Added 13 kickoff returns for 287 yards.

Personal: DeCori lives in Atlanta, Texas with his wife Megan, daughter Jordan (6) and son Dawson (3). He enjoys anything outdoors, especially bass fishing, and lends his time to various charities. He is friends with Argos WR Jason Carter. DeCori attended Atlanta High School and graduated with a sociology degree from Arkansas.
