“May God Be With You”, Prita’s interpretation of a traditional Malawi song, will be released as a free single around the world, to help continue her efforts of creating awareness amongst youth on the HIV/AIDS crisis in Africa.
Prita will also be featuring an online premiere of her short film of the same title on her social networking sites on December 1st, featuring footage and photography she shot while visiting Africa last year that included her performances at villages, churches, and for Members of Parliament in Malawi.
Last month, Prita’s film had its world premiere at North America’s longest running South Asian film festival (FILMI) the same week of her debut EP release, making her one of the first Canadian musicians, not to mention the first South Asian musician, to have a simultaneous film and CD release in the same week.
Prita was recently the music headliner at an Oxfam Canada benefit featuring Bollywood star Rahul Bose, and also opened the Speech & Stuttering Institute’s “Speaking of Shakespeare” fundraiser. Upcoming performances include a fundraiser for the Manzal Humanitarian Foundation on December 6th, as well as Nouveau Idea 7 year anniversary gala on December 12th.
Prita is also back in-studio recording her sophomore EP produced by Montreal fusion group JoSH. One of Canada’s most successful music exports, JoSH often perform for tens of thousands across India and Pakistan, and are frequent collaborators with Nelly Furtado.
