From the wild and wonderful minds of Jones, Hope and Wooten — also known for The Dixie Swim Club and Hallelujah Girls — comes the story of the Verdeen cousins of Sweetgum, Texas. Gaynelle, Peaches and Jimmie Wyvette could not have picked a worse time take over planning the family reunion. Small-town drama is at an all-time high, the weather is scorching, and just on the horizon, a tornado is brewing. Literally. But the Verdeen sisters simply won’t back out now. Too much is on the line. Gaynelle “accidentally” crashed her minivan through the bedroom wall of her husband’s girlfriend’s doublewide. Sassy Peaches, a mortuary’s cosmetologist, has unusual marital problems of her own. And rough-and-tumble Jimmie Wyvette is busy fighting off a competitor for a chance at dating Sweetgum’s latest widower. These girls have one last chance to prove to the town — and to Gaynelle’s court-appointed psychologist — that they’re upstanding citizens … or at least decent enough to bake a prize-winning red velvet cake. While watching this fast-paced comedy, you’ll wish your own family reunions were this much fun.
