Detectives assigned to the Metropolitan Police Department’s Major Crash Unit announced today that an arrest has been made in the hit and run which resulted in the death of 71-year-old Duffie Claridy.

On Monday, November 8, 2010, shortly after 12:45 am, units from the Seventh District were dispatched to the 2900 block of South Capitol Street, SW, for the report of a man down. The victim, Duffie Claridy, had been struck and killed by a vehicle whose driver failed to stop and make his identity known. Evidence left at the scene indicated the striking vehicle may have been a Mercedes-Benz. Later, on the evening of Monday, November 8, 2010, an alert citizen contacted police, and detectives of the Major Crash Unit were directed to a Mercedes-Benz, with front-end damage consistent with that of the crash. Subsequent investigation into the vehicle, has resulted in the recovery of a 2010, Mercedes-Benz GL-450 which led to the arrest of 46-year-old Michael Glover of the 7200 block of Wood Hollow Terrace, Fort Washington, Maryland.

The defendant was arrested on Friday, November 12, 2010, pursuant to a DC Superior Court Arrest warrant charging Michael Glover with Negligent Homicide. This case still remains under investigation.
