Ontario Premier Doug Ford says he “couldn’t be happier” with the results of the U.S. midterm elections because the result sends a message to U.S. President Donald Trump, whose tariffs have hammered the province’s economy.
“The American people spoke, and I couldn’t be happier,” Ford told reporters Wednesday.
“They can blame everyone they want, but President Trump has to look in the mirror, take responsibility for the results of last night.”
His comments come after the Democrats trounced the Republicans in the U.S. midterm elections, gaining control of the House and senate in an election widely viewed as a referendum on U.S. President Donald Trump’s policies.

Highlights would include the kidnapping of the President of Venezuela, a calamitous war in Iran, and outright support of Russia in its genocidal war on Ukraine; threats to invade Greenland and annex Canada; tariffs that are as constitutionally dubious as they are economically ruinous; murderous attacks on immigrants and others by the masked agents of ICE; the use of the Department of Justice to stifle and intimidate critics; and the open abuse of federal power to the benefit of the President, his family and friends – a Watergate a day, as it has been described.
