The Integrated Security Unit (ISU) earlier closed the smaller Controlled Access Zone (CAZ) around the Huntsville resort on June 20 in preparation for the arrival of world leaders.
There will be no public access to Deerhurst Resort for the general public from now until after the G8 Summit. People who live or work within the Interdiction Zone or the CAZ will now be required to show access passes in order to enter and leave the two areas.
In addition, road restrictions on a portion of Highway 60 and roads leading to Deerhurst are now in effect. Marine restrictions are also now in effect for Peninsula Lake.
Dates and times for lifting the restrictions could change based on operational demands, but they are expected to be in effect until the evening of June 26.
The ISU is encouraging area residents to avoid these areas. A plan is in place to ensure emergency services in the region will not be impacted.
