Dinner with Tahmena Bokhari reigning Mrs Kohinoor 2009

Tahmena Bokhari, Mrs. Kohinoor International 2009, hosted a dinner for her fans and the community at the Havelly Restaurant on Fri Dec 4th. Her musician and comedian friends donated their time to put on a wonderful show all for the important cause of breast cancer. Tahmena Bokhari won this crown in August and committed then to raising funds for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.

In her address to the guests, Tahmena, a long time social worker, said, “it is our responsibility as those who are privileged to live in the west to donate to such causes given that there are people in our very own home countries who do not have access to even basic healthcare.” As a Professor of Social Work, Tahmena hopes to use this title to raise awareness on this and other issues within the South Asian community such raising the status of women and ending violence against women. One of the guests of the night said, “it is very inspiring to meet such a talented, worldly and diverse woman like Tahmena who at such a young age seems to have done it all.”

Times for their on-going support. Tahmena concluded the night with appreciation to the community for making the night a success and hopes to have many more such evenings in the near future.
