Hollywood Bowl (Hollywood, CA)
Music director of the Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra and Grammy nominee Nicholas McGegan conducts the Los Angeles Philharmonic in a show under the stars spotlighting the orchestra’s violinist Nathan Cole and violist Carrie Dennis. The concert is set to kick off with Mozart’s Così fan tutte Overture from his Italian opera buffa of 1789, followed by Cole and Dennis’ performance of his joyful hybrid Sinfonia Concertante, composed when he was just 23. Along with Beethoven’s Contradances, the climax comes as the L.A. Phil attacks the maestro’s first symphony, which honors his Viennese predecessors — Haydn and Mozart — while giving more than a glimpse of Beethoven’s innovative musical genius.
