Rakesh Roshan on Kaabil Raees CLASH

Shah Rukh Khan clarified at the trailer launch of Raees today that they shall be having a regular release on January 25, 2017, which means they will release from the morning shows itself. Team Kaabil had earlier announced that they will be releasing on January 25 with 6 PM shows. So, will Kaabil also have a regular release on January 25 from the morning shows itself? “That we will decide now. My distributors will decide to come in evening or morning shows. It’s their investment and not mine,” said Mr Rakesh Roshan in a Bollywood Hungama exclusive interview with Faridoon Shahryar a short while back. SRK said at the Raees trailer launch that they had always thought of a regular release on January 25 and were planning to announce on the day of the launch of the trailer. “Fine. Nothing wrong in it. It’s not my date, it’s anybody’s date. Anybody can come. So, I’ve nothing to say on this. I’m doing whatever I’ve planned and I’m doing it from last one year. And I’m going methodically with all my strategies,” Mr Roshan said.

We have seen it in the past that when two films have released together, both have done well. “No, I don’t think so. Both are jumping into fire, not in water. In water, you can survive, in fire nobody will survive. It just remains to be seen who will get burnt more,” Mr Roshan said. So, you are saying that both Raees and Kaabil will get hurt because of releasing on the same date? “Yes, because both are good films, both are looking good. I know about myself but I heard even Raees is a very well made film. Coming together is jumping into a well of fire. So they’re intelligent people they must be having something up their sleeve which I have no idea. What with my experience personally as a producer and director is you can tell a blind man that there’s a well in front of you, don’t go, he’ll divert. Open eyes se you see there’s a well, then there’s no answer,” Mr Roshan said.

Sir there was a clash of Bajirao Mastani and Dilwale. Basjirao ended up doing a business of Rs 180 crore plus. “Sultan has done Rs. 300, Dangal is coming now. It will do more than Rs. 250-300 (crores). After that we are coming and if we stay below Rs. 200, no achievement in that,” Mr Roshan said defiantly. Any possibility of this clash being averted? “No idea, I have no idea. I’m not postponing or preponing anything because I’ve planned all my strategies in line and I never postpone or prepone my dates because once I did for King Uncle and that film didn’t work so I was a little superstitious. So when I was coming with Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai, January 7 was Mela of Aamir Khan, 14th was Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai then 21st was Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani of Shah Rukh Khan and 29th was Pukar of Anil Kapoor. I didn’t shift. 2-3 distributors left the film but God was kind. Whatever is written in my fate I’ll get, nobody can snatch it and nobody can give me more,” Mr Rakesh Roshan said.
