bmc, police to carry forward legal proceedings against kapil sharma and irrfan khan

Stand-up comedian turned actor Kapil Sharma and International star Irrfan Khan have been caught in a legal controversy with charges of illegal construction pressed against them. The two, who reside in a plush locality in suburban Mumbai in Andheri, found themselves in a sticky situation after BMC accused them of making major structural changes in their apartments, going against BMC guidelines.

An FIR was filed at the Oshiwara police station in Mumbai against the actors under section 53(7) of the Maharashtra Regional Town Planning Act (MRTP). Reportedly, recent investigations revealed that the police found evidence of ‘large scale violations’ wherein the accused have apparently modified their houses but did not abide by the rules of BMC while making these altercations.

Senior Inspector Subhash Khanvilkar from Oshiwara police station not only asserted that these illegal constructions were carried out after the apartments were purchased but also added that the developer has helped them in making it. Further, he will soon file charge-sheet on the same thereby taking the legal proceedings forward against the two actors.

On the other hand, Kapil Sharma and Irrfan Khan have blamed DLH developers for these changes in construction but haven’t responded to the recent legal proceedings in the case.

Prior to this, while Irrfan Khan hasn’t spoken much about the legal controversy, a certain tweet about Narendra Modi’s ‘acche din’ by Kapil Sharma received a lot of flak online followed by BMC allegations about the illegal construction of his office in his Versova bungalow.
