Come December and a major record is all set to be created. For the first time ever in India and most likely anywhere else in the world, as many as five beauty queens would be seen on the big screen in a matter of two weeks. Priyanka Chopra, Lara Dutta, Neha Dhupia, Sayali Bhagat and Simran Kaur Mundi are the five women in limelight, each of them would be enjoying a Bollywood release to her name in back to back weeks. “This is simply unprecedented”, says an industry observer who was clearly caught by surprise with this observation, “There have been instances of two beauty queens coming together in a film or perhaps enjoying an outing each. However to have as many as five of them arriving together is simply unbelievable. Call it coincidental but the fact remains that nothing like this has ever happened before.” Well, the fact remains though that this is indeed happening, what with Don 2 bringing together Priyanka Chopra and Lara Dutta eight years after Andaaz on 23rd December. While this was always on the cards, it was an appearance each by Neha, Sayali and Simran which wasn’t really on the cards. “It is happening though”, says a source, “Neha’s long pending Pappu Can’t Dance Saala is now arriving on 16th December. On the same day Ghost, the comeback affair of Shiney Ahuja, would be releasing as well. Incidentally this Sayali Bhagat starrer has been delayed by a few months as well. On the other hand, though not many are aware about this film called Jo Hum Chahein, it is seemingly a fresh affair which marks the debut of Simran Kaur Mundi, a beauty queen herself. That film too arrives on the same day, hence making it a three way battle.” While it is absolutely certain that none of this was planned, arrival of four movies with five beauty queens has turned out to be a pleasant coincidence for them as they could well be entering record books now. Says a PR expert, “Though Don 2 was always hot, the other three films could benefit out of this promotional peg. I can now see the makers going all out in beating drums around the fact that each of their films boasts of a beauty queen. As for Bollywood then well it is about time that someone approaches the Guinness Book of World Records and apprises them of this unexpected feat.” Trivia: Priyanka Chopra – Femina Miss India World and Miss World 2000 Lara Dutta – Femina Miss India Universe and Miss Universe in 2000 Neha Dhupia – Femina Miss India Universe 2002 Sayali Bhagat – Femina Miss India World 2004 Simran Kaur Mundi – Femina Miss India Universe 2008
