Even though the talented Kirti Kulhari has been around in Bollywood for quite some time, she got her due recognition post her sensational performance in the smash hit film Pink. The talented actress is back again with yet another powerful performance in Madhur Bhandarkar’s film Indu Sarkar, which is about a stammering poetess set against the backdrop of emergency in India.
Madhur Bhandarkar, who tweeted the first look of the film, captioned the same as “#1stlook of #InduSarkar. Thank you to @kulharikirti for working so hard for my character & getting it so vibrantly alive on screen.” Speaking about her character and the film, Kirti Kulhari said, “Indu Sarkar (her character in the film) is delicate and has gone through immense pain & suffering. Yet, she is very caring and loving and through her journey in the film, she finds her true & free self. Shooting these kind of scenes is always depressing and exhausting yet liberating as you explore the pain inside you, face it and use it to express what the character is going through.” When asked about the preparations that she did for the role, she replied, “There’s a preparation and method before shooting. I took classes for voice modulation to make stammering look convincing. Once on the set, I believe in spontaneity. But, there are times especially during such intense scenes, that I try not to break the mood and rhythm and avoid any kind of distractions.”
Besides Kirti Kulhari, Indu Sarkar also stars Neil Nitin Mukesh and Tota Roy Chowdhury in prominent roles.
