Akshay Kumar’s Toilet – Ek Prem Katha has picked on the date that was initially reserved for Crack. The Neeraj Pandey directed film was supposed to arrive on August 11. However now that the film is moved to 2018, the superstar is bringing his social drama entertainer on this date instead.
“It makes sense since the slot had already been reserved by Akshay many months ago. It could be one film or the other, as long as he keeps his promise for bringing a film of his on the Independence Day weekend,” says a source.
Last year, Akshay had brought his Rustom on the weekend of Independence Day and the film ended up netting over 100 crore. While the makers of Toilet – Ek Prem Katha would be looking at a redux of sorts this year too, there is an important factor to be considered. After all, Shah Rukh Khan’s next with Imtiaz Ali (tentatively titled Rehnuma) is arriving in the same date.
If the clash still happens though, it would be the third time that a biggie from Shah Rukh Khan would be arriving with another major film. It happened just a few weeks back with Raees v/s Kaabil scenario and same had happened with Dilwale v/s Bajirao Mastani clash too.
“One would have thought that it would be the end of it all when it comes to clashes since they are never healthy. Shah Rukh Khan brought his Rehnuma against Crack. Now Akshay Kumar is bringing his Toilet – Ek Prem Katha against Rehnuma. A tit-for-tat situation or a never ending cycle? We would know in next few weeks when the talks around this clash further get intensified,” an insider adds.
As for the entertainment and gossips around it all, expect a lot of fuel being added to the fire in time to come.
