Four decades ago on this date the Manmohan Desai directed film Amar Akbar Anthony starring Amitabh Bachchan, Rishi Kapoor, the late Vinod Khanna, Neetu Singh and Parveen Babi hit screens. While the film itself is today considered one of Indian cinema’s cult classics, Amitabh Bachchan couldn’t help but remember the days gone by.
Reminiscing about shooting the film back in the 1970s, the legendary veteran actor who is pretty active on social media took to the networking site sharing a throwback image featuring his kids Abhishek Bachchan and Shweta Bachchan who had come to visit him on sets of the film. Posting the image Amitabh Bachchan added, “40 years of Amar Akbar Anthony .. and Shweta and Abhishek visit me on the set when I was doing song ‘my name is Anthony Gonsalves’”. If that wasn’t all, the megastar shared another image from the film this time featuring all three male leads saying, “40 years of ‘Amar Akbar Anthony’ .. amazing .. ran for 25 weeks in 25 theatres in Mumbai .. !! and still runs .., a classic”. Released in 1977, Amar Akbar Anthony revolved around the story of three brothers who after being separated as children and raised in three different faiths re-unite in their youth to fight a common villain.
Back on the work front, the veteran actor will next be seen sharing screen space with none other than Aamir Khan in Thugs of Hindostan that also features Katrina Kaif and Fatima Sana Sheikh.
