The award shows are those times when audiences get to witness celebrities in their glamorous mode. From stunning red carpet arrivals to amazing performances, celebrities bring their A game to the award shows. But, sometimes, not everything goes according to the plan especially the live editing part.
IIFA 2017 took place last weekend in New York and it was a fun fest. There were several moments that stood out but something that made everyone laugh was when Katrina Kaif was spotted in two places at once. It was time to announce Best Actor at the awards night when hosts Karan Johar and Saif Ali Khan invited Katrina Kaif on the stage for the same. Shahid Kapoor was awarded the Best Actor award for his performance in Udta Punjab. But while the announcement was being made, the camera panned in Shahid’s direction in the audience with Katrina sitting by his side. It was a hilarious moment to see Katrina on stage and sitting in the audience at the same time. As it turns out, the footage was not edited properly and hence the goof up. It did not go unnoticed as everyone made fun of it and some even called Katrina a time traveller.
This isn’t the first time there was an editing goof up. During Star Guild Awards 2013, Pritam received award for Best Music for Ayan Mukerji’s Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. When he went to accept the award, the camera panned on Karan Johar as he was the producer of the film. But, if one observes, Pritam is sitting behind Karan. This was another time editing error was overlooked.
The compulsion of adding forced audience applause and reaction to every moment on stage, time and again provides great unintentional humour.
