Akshay Kumar turns playback singer for ‘Toilet Ka Jugaad’, brings to fore some shocking statistics

What could well have just turned out to some newspaper statistics have found a much bigger shelf life in an interestingly told music video, what with Akshay Kumar taking it upon himself to not just perform but also sing ‘Toilet Ka Jugaad’. While the song has been written by Siddharth-Garima, the writers of Toilet – Ek Prem Katha, emerging composer Vickey Prasad has stepped in as a composer for this catchy track that narrates the evils of open defecation.

“Typically a song like this gets relegated to government sponsored documentaries but Akshay Kumar has gone ahead and given it a complete commercial touch,” informs our source, “As a matter of fact the song is not just for the promotional purpose, a version of it also finds itself in the film’s narrative.”

While the film by itself has been put together as an entertaining affair despite the fact that many considered it to be a taboo to feature in a subject revolving around a ‘toilet’, Akshay Kumar has gone ahead and put together a music video no less. He does what he does best, which is to playfully narrate the facts, figures and statistics and all of that with adequate singing and dancing that makes ‘Toilet Ka Jugaad’ a catchy ride.

“You just can’t get into the preachy mode and then expect audiences to step into theatres,” an observer comments, “There has to be the right entertainment quotient in there as well to entice audiences well. This is what Akshay has been aiming for with Toilet – Ek Prem Katha. While there have been quite a few campaigns around ‘swachh bharat abhiyaan’, he is making his own contribution as a singer, performer and actor in Toilet – Ek Prem Katha.”

No wonder, the song has emerged as a lyrical experience, what with Siddharth and Garima getting into the rustic zone and letting their words do all the talking.

Impressive!
