Karan Johar has just dropped brand new posters of his much talked about next project: Student Of The Year 2 and we are all kicked about the new movie. Along with Tiger Shroff who is the ‘leader of the brat pack’, we shall see two new faces: Ananya Panday and Tara Sutaria vying for his attention. Dharma Productions introduced the first posters of these three leads in a characteristic filmy fashion and did you notice one thing? Its eerie similarity to Karan Johar’s landmark debut Kuch kuch Hota Hain in 1998 is one aspect which is raising the intrigue around the project. Yes! The movie introduces Tiger as the ultimate leader of the brat pack and well, he is like a Shah Rukh Khan’s Rahul’s fitter, swankier version in that aspect. Tiger, complete with his glorious packs and kickass moves, will be an eligible bachelor in the posh St Teresa’s school and the setting is totes like Kuch Kuch, no?

Tiger as Rahul, Tara as Tina and Ananya as Anjali: Is Student Of The Year 2 the Kuch Kuch Hota Hai for the gen next?

One look at Tara Sutaria’s poster and you would notice that her posture and styling pitches her as a school sweetheart. She is elegant, poised and has a divaseque quality about her, much like Rani Mukerji’s Tina. We know Tina’s character for being quintessentially beautiful girl who was world wise and had a soothing quality about her. Tara’s positioning on Student Of The Year 2 poster reminds us of Tina. Look closely, you would agree with us.

Ananya Panday, on the other hand, is dressed in sporty gear and looks like a go-getter, always up for challenges and raring to go. We hate to use the word ‘tomboy’ and we know that even Karan Johar regrets portraying Kajol as one in Kuch Kuch Hota Hain. What if Ananya’s character is his idea of seeking redemption for all the flak he received for unfair treatment to Anjali in Kuch Kuch? Even Karan has admitted that the film would not work in this time and age and given a chance, he would present the plot differently.

The similarities are all too uncanny. What do you think?
