Pulkit SamratIf people have been quietly wondering why Salman Khan has been going out of his way to promote Pulkit Samrat, the reason is not just the debutante’s talent alone. It’s something far deeper than a mere professional interest.

Pulkit’s fiance Shradha Rohira is Salman’s raakhi-sister. Oh, didn’t we tell you? Pulkit is a much-committed, much-engaged almost-married actor. His soul-mate Shradha who is not linked to the film industry, except by her raakhi-brother Salman, has quietly been supporting Pulkit in his struggle towards stardom. Shradha has even attended the Bittoo Boss-related events without anyone knowing her identity.

Says a source, "Pulkit’s fiance Shradha Rohira is Salman’s raakhi-sister. Salman has virtually watched her grow up in front of him. To him she’s as precious as his own sisters Alvira and Arpita. When he got to know that Shradha’s boyfriend Pulkit was making his large-screen debut he immediately took charge of the boy."

Pulkit who has been described as the saving grace of his debut film is somewhat reluctant to flaunt his Salman connection and his much-engaged status.

Says the soft-spoken youngster, "It’s true I am in a committed relationship with Shradha. She is Salman Bhai’s raakhi-sister and that’s how he got to know about me. I can’t even begin to say how blessed I am to have Bhai’s support. Last week he arranged a screening of my film for all his friends. I was rubbing my eyes in disbelief when I saw Sooraj Barjatyaji, Prabhu Devaji, Boney Kapoorji, Sajid Nadiadwalaji and Farahji walk in. They were so encouraging. They watched the whole film and so did Salman Bhai. He saw the entire film."

Opening up on his relationship Pulkit says, "We met two years ago. As a trainee journalist she had to spend a day with a television actor. Luckily that television actor was me. No, it wasn’t love at first sight. But we fell in love gradually. And now we’re inseparable. She’s not just my fiancee. I fondly call her Mrs. Samrat."

As for marriage it’s just a formality for Pulkit. "We are as good as husband and wife. The wedding would be just for the two families’ sake."
