Much has been talked about the upcoming Vikram Bhatt film Hate Story starring Gulshan Devaiah, Nikhil Dwivedi and Bengali actress Paoli Dam, for its more than bold visuals and dialogues. However, it is this same inihibitedness that led to the Calcutta High Court upholding the state censor board’s diktat to cover the posters revealing Paoli’s bare back.

Prior to this verdict, the West Bengal Board of Censorship had ordered the film’s regional distributors not to display the posters on Kolkata streets, despite the fact that there was no opposition from other state censor boards.

Apparently, the state government has ordered that the actor’s bare back be painted blue, while two of the other posters of the film, the one with Dam’s back and another where she is in "a compromising position", have been banned.
