Rensil to write screenplay of 24

Filmmaker Rensil D'Silva has been roped in by Anil Kapoor to write the screenplay of the Indian version of the Emmy award winning American TV series '24'.

Anil, who has acted in the American TV series '24' and is producing the desi version, is totally involved with the creative and technical aspects of the Indian version of the series. While Delhi Belly director Abhinay Deo will be directing the desi version of the series, Anil got Rensil on board as he loved the way Rensil had written Rang De Basanti. Apart from Rensil, Anil's good friend Raj Kumar Santoshi will also be working on the scripting of the series.

Recently, Patrick Harbinger, the screenplay writer and executive producer of the original series, flew down to Mumbai for a meeting with Anil, Abhinay and Rensil. The meeting took place at a suburban five star in Mumbai and lasted for about two hours. Patrick guided them on how to go about the series, keeping in mind an Indian audience.

While in the original '24' , Anil portrayed the middle eastern leader Omar Hassan, in the Hindi version he will play the leader of the anti-terror squad Jack Bauer, essayed by Hollywood actor Keifer Sutherland in the original.

The Indian version of '24' is likely to go on air by end of this year.
