“Initially Salman Khan was NOT a part of ‘Munni Badnaam’ in Dabangg” – reveals Sonu Sood

Revealing this detail, Sood added, “Munni Badnaam was very special. I remember when that song was there, and Salman Khan was initially not a part of that song. In fact, when I signed the film I told Arbaaz Khan that I want a song in the film, so ‘Munni Badnaam’ was added. Initially it was not there in the script, and Arbaaz asked, ‘Yaar gaana kahan dale hum log?’ and Abhinav was a friend, he was an AD to Mani Ratnam in Yuva, and he recommended doing an item number that happens at Sonu’s character’s hideout, and that’s how ‘Munni Badnaam’ was added. Then later three to four days before the shoot of the song, I got a call from Abhinav saying he had some good and bad news. So I asked for the good news first and he told me that all the shots I wanted were there, and then came the bad news, that Salman would also feature in ‘Munni Badnaam’. I was little apprehensive at first because that was supposed to be my solo number, but then I said it is better that Salman is also there and the song itself was gaining popularity, so yeah it would all work for the film.”

Continuing with the same, Sonu Sood went on to add that following Salman Khan’s addition to the song, a lot of it was improvised and the script of the film was altered too.
