Priyanka Chopra has broken all kinds of stereotypes ever since she made her way to the West. She became the first Indian actress to bag a lead role in ABC drama, Quantico. She went on to star in various Hollywood films, been on prestigious magazine covers, red carpets etc. The actress had a whirlwind romance with popstar Nick Jonas and got married to him in a grand wedding in December 2018. While she has received a lot of love, a lot of criticism came her way for the age difference between her and Nick.
Nick Jonas, solo artist and member of Jonas Brothers band, is 26 years old and she is 36. The 10 years age gap never bothered them but it surely did bother many. Speaking to InStyle magazine after being their June cover star, Priyanka said, "People gave us a lot of shit about that and still do." She added, "I find it really amazing when you flip it and the guy is older, no one cares and actually people like it."
Then, after the much-publicized wedding, an opinion piece called Priyanka Chopra a global scam artist was printed in The Cut. Joe Jonas, Sophie Turner and others were pissed about the article and lashed out at the magazine. The article was deleted and apologies were made by the magazine and the writer. Talking about the same, Priyanka said, "Nick, Joe, Sophie, my mom, his parents, everyone was there furiously typing on their phones. They were so mad."
She further said, "Commenting on some stupidity means it eventually becomes important because I gave it importance," she says. "A lot of people don’t understand that way of thinking. It’s not a myopic thought … it’s a long-term plan."
Meanwhile, on the work front, Priyanka Chopra will next be starring in The Sky Is Pink along with Farhan Akhtar and Zaira Wasim.
