While Kabir Singh has set the cash registers ringing at the box office, it has also attracted ample controversies for its subject. Audiences have appreciated the brilliant performance of Shahid Kapoor and at the same time, director of the film, Sandeep Reddy Vanga is being slammed for making a film that celebrates misogyny. Earlier, Shahid Kapoor commented on the same in an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama. Now, co-actor Rajkummar Rao, who is gearing up for the release of Judgementall Hai Kya this week, has commented on the ongoing trolls and backlash faced by Kabir Singh.

The Shahid Kapoor starrer has become one of the most appreciated films in Bollywood and is setting records just like its Telugu counterpart, Arjun Reddy featuring Vijay Deverakonda. But it seems that the Hindi remake also sparked a debate on whether films need to portray characters keeping in mind social morals etc. Owing to the same, when Rajkummar Rao was recently quizzed about it during Judgementall Hai Kya promotions, the actor maintained to each its own. He further said that while he does have certain ideologies and principles when it comes to his characters, he also asserted that cinema cannot be put in any bracket.

Further, he went on to speak about entertainment has a variety of genres and kinds of films, from fiction to biopics to inspirational ones. He mentioned that it all depends on the person who is making the film and their ideologies. Describing the audience’s response, the actor went on to add that if censor approves, anyone can make a film but whether to watch or not is completely audience’s decision. Also it depends on their respective personal ideologies and how much the film resonates with them.

Kabir Singh, that also stars Kiara Advani, is based on the life of a self-destructive surgeon who decides to take up the path of alcoholism and drug abuse after his ladylove is forcibly married to someone else.
