Many mythological shows have been brought back amid nationwide lockdown. After Ramayan, BR Chopra’s Mahabharat and Ramanand Sagar’s Shri Krishna is currently airing on Doordarshan. As Mahabharat is coming to an end, Sonu Nigam recently shared a video of himself from his teenage days as he sung the theme song of the show.

Throwback: 16-year-old Sonu Nigam singing Mahabharat theme song will make you nostalgic

16-year-old Sonu Nigam crooned the theme song at Aadharshila Awards Function at Talkatora Indore Stadium on September 17, 1989. This was before he made his debut as  playback singer. The function also saw the presence of Mukesh Khanna who played the role of Bheeshma Pitama in the show.

Sonu Nigam had shared the video on his Instagram and wrote, "Singing Mahabharat song | Aadharshila Awards Function | 17th September, 1989 Sharing one of the precious videos from the good old days. Here at Talkatora Indore Stadium, I was singing the Mahabharat song which I had mastered completely based on my memory, we did not have video streaming platforms like YouTube those days."

Sonu Nigam and his family are currently in Dubai in quarantine as they couldn’t return to Mumbai due to lockdown.
