USA: Free $30 Oye! Times readers Get FREE $30 to spend on Amazon, Walmart…Rahman is completely ahead of the game - RaghavIndo-Canadian singer Raghav Mathur is yet to live down the excitement of having worked with music maestro A.R. Rahman. The R&B singer, who made his debut in Bollywood singing last year, finds himself in the limelight with the song 'Ishq shava' from the film Jab Tak Hain Jaan topping the charts!

'Ishq shava' is completely different from what we have heard you sing before. How did it happen?
A.R. Rahman is completely ahead of the game. I am glad that I had the opportunity to work with him. It was an informal meeting, and after listening to a song which I sang, he offered me 'Ishq shava'. It's exciting when an informal meeting becomes a major event in my life.

Share some of your experiences while recording the song, 'Ishq shava'.
It was a great experience working with someone like A.R. Rahman. Of all the glorious moments in my musical journey, working with the maestro, ranks at the top. I learnt a lot from him while recording the song. He takes music to a completely different level.

What kind of response has the song received from listeners?
I don't know how it has been received in India as yet. But in the US, it's become a huge hit! The track is being played all over on YouTube, at parties and in cars. People have also liked the video of the song. I'll get to know the response in India only when I fly down to the country this week.

Given the fact, you have been singing both Pop and Bollywood songs, which one is your favourite and why?
While Pop and Bollywood music belong to completely different genres, the basic work is the same- both require a lot of conceptualising. I have been learning new things everyday while working on my albums and other projects. I enjoy writing for my records. I have been into pop singing for a longer time, and I love it. However, I couldn't have refused a big collaboration with A.R. Rahman, SRK and Yash Raj Films.

What are your forthcoming projects?
I am working on a couple of personal projects and am going to be very busy for the next six months. My forthcoming album Fire will be released in the United States in January. There are no Bollywood projects in pipeline as of now. But I shall be coming to India next week, so let's see how things work out.
